1993 SPEBSQSA Chorus Finals on Friday Night Live

In 1993, SPEBSQSA (now the Barbershop Harmony Society) descended on Calgary where the legendary The Gas House Gang Quartet would earn their gold. They weren’t the only legends to take home gold that year, though. Masters of Harmony, under the direction of Dr. Greg Lyne, won their second consecutive gold in the chorus contest after winning in Los Angeles in 1990.

Hear the whole chorus finals from 1993 tonight on Friday Night Live – only on Acaville!

Can’t tune in tonight? Hear the rebroadcast on Sunday at 8 am/pm Pacific or look for it in our Member Only content after the broadcasts!

New Programming Schedule Starts July 1

Starting July 1st, we are rolling out a TON of new content on Acaville! With all of these exciting updates, we’ve decided to update our broadcast calendar as well.

Here’s what’s new:

Barbershop 7th Hour
Host: Jeremy K. Gover of the Barbershop Harmony Society
Thursdays at 5 PM Pacific, Sundays at 11 AM & 11 PM Pacific

Jeremy spends his days inside the walls of Harmony Halls and you can find him in “mission control” during BHS International. In this hour each week, he will bring you some of the best performances in barbershop, hidden gems, interviews, and all the barbershop information you want and need!

Counterpoint
Hosts: Deke Sharon and Rob Dietz
Mondays at 5 PM Pacific, Sundays at 7 AM & 7 PM Pacific

You know them, you love them and they love you, too! Why else would they bring you A-List guests, hot topics to ponder, and a lifetime of a cappella knowledge? Our broadcasts start on July 1 with Season 1!

The Pulse
Host: Rachael Schoenbaum
Tuesdays at 6 PM Pacific, Sundays at 10 AM & 10 PM Pacific\

Here at Acaville we do a LOT of traveling and we meet some incredible groups. Rachael sits down with high school, collegiate, adult, and pro groups – some of whom aren’t that well known – yet. Get to know your community-at-large and listen in to hear what groups just like you have to say!

Vocal HERspective
Hosts: Amanda Cornaglia and Rachael Shoenbaum
Tuesdays at 6:30 PM Pacific, Sundays at 10:30 AM & 10:30 PM Pacific

Let’s face it – women are doing amazing things everywhere – and everywhere includes a cappella. And yet, when push comes to shove, community members, news outlets, and media still often default to the male perspective for advice. Each week, Amanda and Rachael will introduce you to a woman or female-identifying member of the a cappella community that you should know more about – and they have plenty of great advice for all singers!

And we’ll still be airing all of your favorites – just a few will air at new times, including:

Competition Countdown
Host: Rachael Schoenbaum
Mondays at 5 PM Pacific, Sundays at 7 AM & 7 PM Pacific

Here at Acaville we love to catch up with all of the competitors – ICHSA, ICCA, and AcaOpen – anywhere there is a prize on the line. Dive deep with us in 30 minute interviews that include live singing! This show will return in the fall and winter once competition season kicks up again.
