New Tunesday – June 18, 2019

Just when we think a week in a cappella couldn’t get any better, we get a week like this one.

The Swingles

What happens when one of the world’s most iconic group of singers covers Radiohead? This.

Jacob Collier

I’m pretty sure the only way you’re getting me to listen to an 8 minute rendition of Moon River is by having Jacob Collier arrange and sing it. And is that Take 6 we spy?

Home Free

Straight from The Nashville Vineyard Church, Home Free takes on this simple yet sweet cover of this modern classic from Vince Gill.

Oh. You thought that was all? Nope. Here’s more, Home Fries – an original!

VoicePlay

Our Sing-Off alums have been busy this week – enjoy a medley of all of your boy band guilty pleasures.

Voctave

This Orlando group can do no wrong in our book. This time they’ve taken a Disney classic while still making you wonder just where all of those vocal gymnastics and fireworks are coming from. Pre-orders for their new album “Somewhere There’s Music” start on iTunes and Amazon music on June 24th ahead of a July 1st release.

Face

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Idyllic American countryside. A nod to one of the most iconic music festivals of all time. Colorado’s favorite vocal band. Still need more? Just watch.

MVP

A brand new original song from the ladies Down Under. It’s pretty catchy, if you ask us.

The Pennchants

Prince is an artist you cover with caution. However, when you have a soloist like Marjon Enriquez, by all means, cover all things Purple.

Main Street

Enjoy this little ditty from the 2017 BHS International Quartet Champions in honor of Father’s Day.

Flight Scene

This coed country group is back – this time with a Lauren Alaina cover.

Prismatics

Biggest lesson learned from this video? More groups should cover Shoshana Bean. Thanks for this little live gem, Prismatics.

Exclusive Interview: Due North

2018 Harmony Sweepstakes National Finalists Due North just released a new single.

The group has been quite busy since their appearance at the competition in San Rafael with shows across the Midwest. Their latest single, “Greedy” was released on Spotify over the weekend and we’ve got it for you on the radio tonight at 6 pm Pacific/9 pm Eastern.

Acaville’s Rachael Schoenbaum sat down with the group for an exclusive interview with Due North over the weekend – catch it all right here!

Six Appeal Momentum Grows With More To Come

Six Appeal Vocal Band recently returned to the States from a whirlwind tour of Europe, where they captured their second consecutive Grand Prize win at the 2019 Moscow Spring A Cappella Festival. While in Russia, Six Appeal filmed three music videos as part of a soon to be released five-song visual EP, aptly titled Euro EP. The new EP tells the story of the band’s first European tour through both audio and video, shot throughout Moscow and Catalonia.

Since first taking the spotlight after winning the National Harmony Sweepstakes in 2012, this world-class vocal ensemble from Minneapolis  combines musical prowess and sharp comedic timing with the energy and vitality of a rock band. Six Appeal have performed with artists such as Thundercat, Andy Grammer, Michael McDonald, and Kenny Loggins. They’ve also twice performed for the stars at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party in Hollywood to exuberant response.

What’s coming up next for this cheeky vocal band? An upcoming tour to promote Euro EP!

Catch them on tour this summer:

June 28 – Lakeside, OH – Hoover Auditorium
August 7 – Eagan, MN – Eagan Market Fest
August 12 – Maple Grove, MN – Town Green Park
